roller-type pocket & table lighters
Manufactured after World War 2, Strasmore Ltd. produced several roller-type pocket lighters. Based on the utility patent for the Parker Roller Beacon, the ElstraLite was the first Strasmore roller-type model. At least three distinctively different versions of the ElstraLite were produced. For the earlier versions, one end of the roller is anchored by a small screw. Both ends of the roller are riveted in place for the later version.
The Strasmore Debonair is a more elegant version of the third ElstraLite design featuring a full-enclosed spark wheel and flush flint screw. Produced for export to the United States, Gaylord and Rosco English Rollers use the same design as the third ElstraLite. The names used for these export models only appear on their original packaging.
ElstraLite, Gaylord and Rosco models were offered with optional metal bases so they could be used as pocket or table lighters. (EB)
